SONA of the President Benigno S. Aquino III regarding on Information and Communications Technology

Last July 23, 2012 Monday is the third State of the Nation Address of the President Benigno S. Aquino III. He delivered it at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City. I read his SONA here http://www.gov.ph/2012/07/23/benigno-s-aquino-iii-third-state-of-the-nation-address-july-23-2012/ and identify the three areas related to Information and Communications Technology (ICT). These are TESDA Specialists Technopreneurship Program, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Project NOAH.

I quote “Despite the staggering debt inherited by TESDA, it still trained 434,676 individuals under the Training for Work Scholarship Program. The TESDA Specialists Technopreneurship Program likewise delivered concrete victories—imagine: each of the 5,240 certified Specialistas are earning 562 pesos a day, or 11,240 pesos a month. This is higher than the minimum wage.” from President’s SONA. If this program continues it will produce more jobs for Filipinos and lessen the unemployment rate of our country.

The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry had made inroads in attracting revenue and providing jobs for Filipinos, citing industry targets of 25 billion dollars and will be employing 1.3 million Filipinos according to the President’s SONA. I quote “Back in the year 2000, only 5,000 people were employed in this industry. Fast forward to 2011: 638,000 people are employed by BPOs, and the industry has contributed 11 billion dollars to our economy.”, if the employment of the Philippines will increase our economy also increases.

Project Noah also known as Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards is a system developed to help alleviate natural disasters at risk-area. I quote “Many of those affected by typhoons Ondoy, Pepeng, and Sendong were just as defenseless. We lost so many lives to these natural disasters. And now, through Project NOAH, all our anti-disaster initiatives have been brought inside one boat, and we no longer leave the evacuation of families up to mere luck. We now have the technology to give fair warning to Filipinos in order to prepare for and avoid the worst.”, if this program persist, more Filipinos will be aware of the natural disaster that would be affected by a certain place in our country and many Filipinos can save their lives.

Information and Communications Technology helps to improve the lives of more Filipinos like being mindful and more independent. Also, the Filipinos will live their lives easy and happy.
